This presentation takes a look at what has happened in the Malaysian economy one year since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in Malaysia, specifically looking at the pandemic’s impacts on GDP growth, trade and labour markets. The presentation considers Malaysian economic policy responses to the COVID-19 crisis and ways forwards in terms of fiscal stimulus to support Malaysian households and workers. Finally, the presentation looks at the economic outlook for the Malaysian economy in 2021 and highlights the various downside risks weighing on current GDP forecasts.
