Vice-Minister for International Affairs Hirai Hirohide at Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and a delegation from the Embassy of Japan in Malaysia paid a courtesy call to Prof Dr Faiz Abdullah, Chairman of ISIS Malaysia on 18 April 2023.
After a quick exchange of notes, their discussion revolved around the current bilateral and economic ties between Malaysia and Japan, as well as the progress of trade relations. They also discussed future collaborations between the two nations, including in agro tech, electronics, energy transition, carbon neutrality, hydrogen, food security and digitalisation.
Another key topic of discussion were previous initiatives between ISIS Malaysia and the Japanese government, as well as new areas of cooperation between ISIS Malaysia and METI, to better promote bilateral trade and investment in Malaysia.
Also present were senior director of research Alizan Mahadi, senior fellow Thomas Benjamin Daniel and analyst Angeline Tan.
