Is there a Race towards a Global Green Recovery?

When Joe Biden was inaugurated as the 46th President of the United States, one of his first actions was to sign an executive order on tackling the climate crisis at home and abroad. It included rejoining the Paris Climate Agreement, and more broadly, putting the climate crisis at the centre of United States foreign policy and national security. President Biden also launched a $2 trillion climate plan towards building a modern, sustainable infrastructure and an equitable clean energy future. Alongside actions in the United States, many countries have committed to ‘build back better’ from the COVID-19 pandemic by initiating a green recovery. Blocs such as the EU and countries such as China, France, Singapore, South Korea, and Sweden are devoting a sizeable portion of their economic stimulus packages towards low-carbon projects, in order to mitigate their contributions to climate change as well as enhance their resilience to its consequences. This webinar explores whether these efforts are genuinely launching a race towards a global green recovery.
