Forging ahead: women in politics in the post-Covid era

Forging ahead: women in politics in the post-Covid era

Women are underrepresented at all levels of decision-making, and political gender parity is no exception. According to the United Nations, as of September 2021, there are 26 women serving as heads of state and/or government in 24 countries. This means that gender equality at the highest levels of governance will not be reached for over a century unless something changes.

ISIS Malaysia, in collaboration with Casa Asia, will be examining the lack of women in leadership roles in our webinar titled “Forging ahead: women in politics in the post-Covid era”.

Join Ana Maria Salazar, former senior adviser to UN Women, and Sangetha Jayakumar, Parti Keadilan Rakyat national vice women chief, as they discuss how this issue can best be tackled at the national and international levels, including debating gender quotas in legislative bodies and measuring how far we are from realising the goals laid out in the Beijing Declaration.
