Malaysia entered a national two-week lockdown as it deals with a record surge in COVID-19 cases. Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has caved in to growing calls for large-scale lockdown after daily infections soared into the thousands.  

While it is hoped this will curb the growing outbreak that is pushing hospitals to breaking point, there are fears this lockdown could derail the country’s economic recovery.
