OVERVIEW

Colombia’s economy has grown at a 4.7% annual rate growth over the past four years, thanks to sound macroeconomic and structural policies. Foreign Direct Investment surged 148%, from USD 6.7 billion in 2010 to USD 13.5 billion in 2013. Together with three of its neighbours — Mexico, Chile and Peru — a deep integration scheme termed the Pacific Alliance (PA) is well under negotiation. A major goal is to embark on inter-regional talks with similar schemes in the Asia Pacific. Bilaterally, Colombia shares with Malaysia a diverse agenda in terms of investment, technical cooperation, cultural exchange and the commitment to attain multilateral major goals, among others.
