As viruses have no passports, the 2019 novel coronavirus (nCoV) outbreak is a fight between species, not between countries or between individuals. The inevitable interactions between science, domestic politics and geopolitics during transnational outbreaks must help, rather than hinder, successful outbreak responses. How should Malaysia respond during crisis periods, build resilience during non-crisis periods, and interact effectively with other countries to assure global health?
