Dato’ Dr Siti Zaleha
Dato’ Dr Siti Zaleha , a Senior Fellow, has served in several divisions in the Ministry of Education Malaysia (MOEM) starting as an English teacher in a secondary school. She graduated with a BA (Hons) in English and completed the Diploma in Education in English and History from University Malaya. She then obtained a postgraduate Diploma in TESOL (Teaching of English to Speakers of Other Languages) and a Masters in Language and Literature (TESOL) from the Institute of Education, University of London, UK. She was awarded a doctoral degree from the Centre for English Language Education, University of Warwick, UK.
In view of the specialism in English and Teacher education, Dato’ Dr Siti Zaleha served as English and English language specialist teacher educator in various Teacher Education Colleges, now known as Institut Perguruan Malaysia (IPGM). During her tenure, she was also involved in teacher education curriculum design, assessment and evaluation development and monitoring of curriculum implementation. As Head of English Department in the Teachers’ Training College (Maktab Perguruan Ilmu Khas), and later as English Desk Officer at the MOEM, she was involved in the development, monitoring and evaluation of the B.A/ B.Ed English language teacher education twinning degree program between selected teacher education institutions in MOEM, and universities from United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand. Subsequently, she held senior positions as Deputy Chief Inspector of Schools, Director of Excellent Schools Division, Director Textbook Division and Director of Educational Technology Division.
During her service in the MOEM, Dato’Dr Siti Zaleha has been involved in development of education policies at the central level and in the implementation of the policies at the operational level.
