Dr. Larry Chee-Yoong Wong
Dr Larry Wong, a development economist by training, has vast operational experience in business and development planning, implementation and policy analysis. He is currently Program Director, Technology, Innovation, Environment and Sustainability (TIES), at the Institute of Strategic and International Studies (ISIS) Malaysia. He is also an Associate Research Fellow of MIER. Prior to rejoining ISIS in 2004, he was in the private sector for 8 years, handling BERNAS’ international business. He has also held various senior management and research positions in the Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute (MARDI), Economic Planning Unit (EPU) of Prime Minister’s Department, and Ministry of Agriculture. Dr Wong has consulted for multinational corporations and SMEs, international organizations (UNDP, FAO, ADB, and the World Bank) and governments. His key areas of expertise include developing and managing agri-food supply chains and trading networks; innovative reciprocal-trade arrangements involving economies in transition; agri-biotechnology; biofuels; food security and sustainable development.
Dr Larry Wong has a PhD in Economics from University of Kent-at-Canterbury, England; Masters in Agricultural Economics and Business Management from University of New England, Australia; and Bachelors in Agricultural Science (Hons) from University of Malaya, Malaysia.
