Background: Malaysian, born in Kuala Lumpur. Had two years of pre-university studies at United World College, Wales, U.K. where there was strong multicultural exposure. Graduated in the subject of Actuarial Mathematics and Statistics from a university in Edinburgh, U.K. Henceforth worked in the fields of insurance, actuarial consultancy and investment in the United Kingdom, Singapore and Malaysia. After a number of years being employed or self-employed in the corporate sector, decided that it was time to switch to social-work type of occupation on a full-time basis, and joined ISIS for this purpose, in the area of Islamic World which has been a natural and abiding interest of many years. Outside of office work, have for years been volunteering in various NGO’s, as well as doing investment as one of a number of hobbies. Occasionally speaks in public, writes in media or websites.
