Haji
Mohamed Thamby bin Md. Ibrahim hails from the education profession
and had served the Ministry of Education, Malaysia, in various
capacities. He taught Mathematics and Science in secondary schools,
before he was promoted to serve in the Educational Planning, Policy
and Research Division as an Assistant Director of Planning in the
Ministry of Education. He had lectured in two teacher education
colleges and was an English Language tutor at University of Malaya
for a short period. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts (Honours)
degree from the University of Malaya, majoring in Mathematics and
Sociology (Malay Studies).
After having served the Ministry of Education as an Education
Planner and in different capacities for about 23 years, he was
offered the position of Head of the Director - General's Office at
ISIS Malaysia in early 1993. As head, he was responsible for the
supervision and management of the Director-General's office, while
attending to other responsibilities pertaining to correspondence and
communications addressed to the Director-General.
He was the liaison officer between the Director-General’s office and
all the Bureaus and Divisions in ISIS. Haji Mohamed continued to
perform his duties as above when the Director-General then was
elevated to the position of Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. He
is now holding the post of Assistant Director-General.
