Mr. Huzaime Hamid

His specialization in ISIS Malaysia is in economics, finance, capital markets, and businesses. He is the Deputy Secretary-General of the Malaysian chapter of the Network of East Asian Think-tanks or ‘NEAT’. He has been active in several NEAT Working Groups for the last few years, principally those focused on finance, economics, and Community-building.

His other activities and accomplishments include, inter alia:

• Consultant for the Islamic Development Bank’s (‘IDB’) 1440 Hijrah Vision Document
   project,
• Member, IDB Vision Partners’ Team,
• Pro-tem Committee Member, Young Muslims Leadership Forum,
• Former pro-tem Committee Member, Malaysian Association of Asset Managers
   (MAAM),
• Researcher, Global Development Network,
                                            • Lifelong member, Malaysian Finance Association, and
                                            • Lifelong member, Malaysian Economics Association.

He is currently an Investment Committee member of CIMB-Principal Berhad, one of Malaysia’s largest fund management groups and winner of numerous performance-related awards.

A graduate in Economics from the Louisiana State University, USA, Huzaime has spent 12 years as a fund manager and two years in addition to that as a Stock-broking Dealer’s Representative in both regional and domestic markets. The highlight was with Jardine Fleming Investments Management, Hong Kong (a member of JP Morgan, Chase and Company Group). Prior to that he was in various finance related posts with two of Malaysia’s largest multi-nationals, Sime Darby and Malayan Banking. He has won several awards for his work in investments.

Huzaime is also active in several social activities. He was a Malaysian government scholarship holder, a member of Phi Eta Sigma, a graduate of the Outward Bound School, and once held athletic records for the Malaysian Inter-Merchant Bank Games. He maintains an interest in sports, especially rugby, sky-diving, hiking, and yoga. His intellectual interests also lie in Islamic affairs, affirmative action strategies, international relations, and civilization-building.
