Datuk Yaacob Bin Wan Ibrahim
Currently, he is a Fellow at Institute of Strategic and International Studies Malaysia (ISIS), and a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to MSC Technology Centre, Cyberjaya which is assigned to evaluate the Ministry of Education(MOE) ICT programs pertaining to education management and administration, teaching and learning process, and the cyber-infrastructure facilities in schools as well as in the Ministry of Education and in the state departments. Being in the education service for 32 years, starting from January 1971 to April 2004, he had served in schools, in the teacher training colleges, in the various departments of the Ministry of Education of Malaysia, and in the state education department. Thus respectively, he had been assuming all kind of roles in the education service such as a class teacher, a school senior assistant, a school principal, a teachers’ college lecturer , a head of language department at the teachers college, a teachers’ college principal, assistant director at the Pre-service Student Teacher Intake and Placement Unit of Teacher Education Division(TED), a head of Curriculum Unit (TED), the principal assistant director of Policy Analysis Unit in the Education Planning and Research Division MOE, the Deputy Director of Schools Division, the Director of the Education Technology Division, the Deputy Director General of Private Education Department , and the Director of Kuala Lumpur Education Department. His oversea experiences included education attachment programs, education visits, international conferences, meetings, and country paper presentations. Among the countries engaged in the above education activities were USA, Canada, Pakistan, Japan, Korea, Australia, Scotland, Netherlands, and New Zealand. From 1995- 1998, he had been appointed Director of the Malaysian Students Department in Sydney, Australia. While in Australia, in the interest of the students welfare, he had good working relationships with most of the vice-chancellors and international staff of the Australian universities and also with the local communities. As the head of the Private Education Department, he was chief de mission of the Malaysian Education delegations participating in the international education exhibitions in Beijing, Shanghai, Dubai, Brunei, Bangkok, Jakarta, Medan, and Vancouver. During his tenure-ship as a State Education Director of Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur, he was appointed as a member of Lembaga Pemegang Amanah Yayasan Selangor, Yayasan Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur; and Yayasan Pencegahan Jenayah Negara Kuala Lumpur. And being an ex- RMC `Budak Boy’ who had rich experiences in education service, currently, he is co-opted as an education adviser to the Royal Military College Exco Members. He is also an active member of the Malaysian Historical Society Kuala Lumpur Branch (Persatuan Sejarah Malaysia Cawangan Kuala Lumpur) since 2004.
