The main function of the Information Services
Division is to provide an excellent resource centre in line with the
research programmes of the Institute.

Friday: 8.00 am - 12.30 pm, 2.45 pm – 5.00 pm
(Closed on Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays)
The Library has more than 34,000 volumes of
monographs and bound journals, 10,040 titles in its pamphlet
collection, 120 titles of journals on subscription and a small
collection of audio cassette tapes which are mainly recordings
of ISIS conference proceedings.
The Library’s holdings cover, in a significant way, the
Institute’s major research interests, namely: international
relations, strategic security, defence and foreign policy
studies especially ASEAN and the Asia Pacific region; economic
issues, both national and international; natural resources and
environmental issues; science and technology policy studies; and
studies on Japan and East Asia.
The Library subscribes to local newspapers such as the New
Straits Times, The Star, The Edge, the Sun, Berita Harian and
Utusan Malaysia as well as some foreign papers like the
International Herald Tribune, The Wall Street Journal, Financial
Times and The Japan Times.
The Library is primarily for members and
staff of the Institute. However, the Library offers reference
and reading facilities to officials of government and statutory
bodies, post-graduate and undergraduate students, and foreign
visiting scholars. A written request on official institutional
letterhead or letter of recommendation from the Supervisors or
Deans of departments should be submitted.
A one-time library registration fee of RM 10.00 will be charged
and a card issued to all external library users.
An on-line catalogue search of all its
resources – monographs, journal titles and pamphlets – is
available to users within the Library premise.
The Library produces three bi-monthly clippings i.e. Current
Awareness - a compilation of contents pages of journals;
Newsclippings and Articles on Current Economic Situation -
foreign newsclippings on Asian economic situation; and
Newsclippings and Articles on Political Conflicts - foreign
newsclippings on Asian political situation.
Articles & Newsclippings
Inter-library lending services are accorded to staff or officers
of reciprocating local institutions through their respective
libraries.
A book deposit of RM 50.00 is required for all borrowers from
local institutions undergoing a course. This will be refunded on
the return of all books borrowed at the end of the course.
Limited chargeable photocopy facilities are available on
request.
