ISIS Malaysia is a founding member of the ASEAN-Institutes of
Strategic and International Studies (ASEAN-ISIS), a group of
leading strategic studies institutes from across the ASEAN
region.
The Network of
East Asian Think-Tanks or "NEAT" as it is usually known was a
recommendation of the East Asian Studies Group (2002) set up by
the ASEAN Plus Three (APT) Summit. It is a grouping of 13
government-designated organizations, one from each APT country.
It is approximately 4 years old, and has held Annual Conferences
in China (2003), Thailand (2004), Japan (2005) and Malaysia
(2006).
The Pacific Economic Cooperation Council (PECC) is a tripartite partnership of senior individuals
from business and industry, government, academic and other
intellectual circles. All participate in their private capacity
and discuss freely on current, practical policy issues of the
Asia-Pacific region. Its work program aims for better
cooperation and policy coordination in areas including trade,
investment, finance, human resource development, and all major industrial sectors.
Council for Security and Cooperation in Asia and the Pacific (CSCAP)
The Council for Security Cooperation in the Asia Pacific (CSCAP)
was established on 8 June 1993 with the aim of providing a
structural regional process of a non-governmental nature to
contribute to the efforts towards regional confidence building
and enhancing regional security through dialogues, consultation
and cooperation.
Asia-Pacific Institute of Broadcasting Development (AIBD)
The Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD)
is a unique regional inter-governmental organisation servicing
countries of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission
for Asia and the Pacific (UN-ESCAP) in the field of electronic
media development. It is hosted by the Government of Malaysia.
Malaysian Institute of Economic Research (MIER)
The Malaysian Institute of Economic Research (MIER) is an
independent, private, non-profit organisation, devoted to
economic, financial, and business research, that would serve as
a thinktank for the government and the private sector. It was
first mooted in the Prime Minister's Economic Panel and later
promoted by the Council on Malaysian Invisible Trade.
